When Hannelore Vandebussche assisted photographer Jimmy Nelson for his ‘Before they Pass Away’ book, she travelled the world looking for tribes. During her travels she created the idea to do a similar project that would focus on sports through an anthropological lens, posing the question; why do people play? The idea for Human Playground was born.
Ten years later, Human Playground has produced a globally distributed Netflix series, narrated by Idris Elba. The production span 30 countries. The series is a co-production between Dutch production company Scenery and the production agency of British actor Idris Elba.
Foster & Kin was tasked to develop a brand strategy to turn the series into a brand universe.
Stay tuned for the release of the series itself (by the end of September), the book and an e-commerce platform that sells original editions of the photography as well as posters.
